With a more modern approach to drill based training, students will be learning the fundamentals of what makes jiu jitsu one of the best self defense systems in the world, while also becoming skilled in sport jiu jitsu applications. However, that’s not all jiu jitsu has to offer. From exercise and self defense, to building confidence and learning how to stay calm under life’s pressures.

EVERYONE can gain something from Jiu Jitsu!

Clever Jiu Jitsu also strives to stay in a constant state of evolution. we like to keep things fresh and our minds open by staying in tune with the growing sport of jiu jitsu and how it constantly tests what is, or is NOT, effective.

Culture matters the MOST to us.

Clever Jiu Jitsu does not favor the athlete over the hobbyist, or the other way around. Whatever your goals, you will always find a warm family-first environment. Clever Jiu Jitsu is home to all walks and offers many ways to explore the life changing practice of Jiu Jitsu.

*Please remove all jewelry before training to help avoid injury*

  • Jiu Jitsu is full contact and requires that you not only think about your comfort and safety, but also the comfort and safety of your classmates.

Having good hygiene is VERY important!

This means we expect you to wash your uniforms (and belts) after EVERY class.

We also expect that you shower daily, keep good dental hygiene, and keep your fingernails and toenails trimmed.

DO NOT TRAIN WITH ANY SKIN INFECTIONS! If you are found training with a skin infection, you will be asked to leave the mat area. DO NOT JUST COVER IT UP!

I know this can sound harsh…It’s not personal.

We take the safety of our students very serious. We want everyone to know that there is a clearly defined expectation in this area so that we all have peace of mind when we come to train.

  • When you arrive to a class, PLEASE check in. All fees and Memberships must be paid and in good standing before you can train. If it’s your first time at a jiu jitsu class, we offer a one week free trial.

After you’re checked in, we ask that you change into clean clothing/uniform, if you haven’t already. Please remover your shoes before joining the other students on the mats. Shoes are not allowed on the mats. Shoes are required at all times off the mats. If you are new, please introduce yourself to the instructor if they haven’t already said hello. Don’t be shy! Clever Jiu Jitsu coaches are very friendly and will love to meet you.

If you arrive late to class, DON’T WORRY, quietly join the class when you’re ready. We understand that life can get busy.

If you have any questions for the instructor beyond what is the focus of the class, PLEASE wait until class is over and then ask away.

With Jiu Jitsu being a FULL contact sport, there is always the risk of injuries. However, IT IS NEVER OKAY TO BULLY OR HURT A TRAINING PARTNER! Clever Jiu Jitsu training methods are focused on a detailed and methodical approach to the study of Jiu Jitsu.

Clever Jiu Jitsu is NOT a “train hard, learn later” style gym where injuries are often celebrated as a right of passage or badge of honor. We believe that when it comes to studying and practicing jiu jitsu, “slow is smooth, smooth is fast”.

With that as a motto we like to follow, we ask that you come to class ready to develop skills that will allow your efforts in training or competition to be guided by knowledge and experience.
